Nominations are now open for the annual Westpac Community Treasurers’ Awards.

The Westpac Community Treasurers’ Awards, an initiative of Westpac and Our Community, have been created to recognise the hard work and leadership displayed by volunteer treasurers working at the heart of the hundreds of thousands of community groups found across the country.

Westpac’s Head of Social Sector Banking Julienne Price says the the Westpac Community Treasurers’ Awards are a fitting way to show appreciation for the immense contribution made by Australia’s volunteer groups.

Price says honorary treasurers are at the heart of the groups which are at the heart of our communities – these are people who deserve thanks and recognition.

She says Westpac’s close working relationship with thousands of community groups gives them a special perspective on the social sector.

Awards will be given in three categories, with winning treasurers in each class being given $5000 for their organisation and $5000 worth of tools and training.

These categories are:

  • Small organisations (annual income of less than $100,000 per annum)
  • Medium organisations (annual income of between $100,000 and $1million per
  • annum)
  • Large organisations (annual income of more than $1million per annum)

Nominations for the Westpac Community Treasurers’ Awards can be submitted online, by post or by fax. Entries must be received by 5pm on Friday 29 April 2011.

The Westpac Community Treasurer’s Awards are part of Westpac’s wider program of supporting the communities we do business with.

Our Community is a leading social enterprise that provides advice and tools for community groups with the aim to build a stronger community through stronger community organisations.
