New Funding Available for Community Groups
19 March 2013 at 3:57 pm

Rail freight company Aurizon has announced its latest round of cash grants aimed at supporting grassroots projects across Australia.

The Community Giving Fund, established in 2010, is open to eligible charitable organisations and offers funding of up to $20,000 for community-based projects.

The successful recipient must fall under one of the company’s three key objective areas: Health and Wellbeing, Community Safety and Education.

Having already presented grants to more than 80 charities across the country in its previous three rounds, Aurizon says it wants to encourage more groups to apply for the funding.

“This is about giving back to the towns and cities across Australia where our employees live and work. Most of our employees are based in regional areas and we want to support community groups which are making a difference in these communities,” managing director Lance Hockridge said.

“Many of the projects we have supported have been put forward by our own employees and that gives a great sense of ownership not only to the community but to our people.”

Aurizon works in conjunction with the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) Australia to provide two grant rounds a year.

Applications are open online and close on April 26.
