Australasian Better Boards Conference

The Australasian Better Boards Conference has been inspiring, informing and connecting leaders of Not for Profit organisations since 2002.

The 7th Australasian Better Boards Conference will take place on the 5th – 7th July, 2013 at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Focusing specifically on governance and leadership for leaders of Australasia’s Not for Profit organisations, this popular conference specifically curated for Chief Executive Officers, board members and senior managers from the Not for Profit world.

The 2013 Better Boards conference theme is "Governing in Turbulent times… Ideas to Solutions" and as this theme suggests, the workshops and presentations will focus on discussing and discovering practical solutions and actions to help navigate approaching challenges within the sector and make a difference in your organisation.

This year's program brings together a diverse collection of speakers with knowledge and experience to inspire, motivate, inform and connect those in attendance.

CEO's can hear Julie White – CEO, Chief Executive Women, speak about championing development and growth through leadership, and hear John Fletcher – former CEO, Coles Myer address the leadership of organisations, especially through change, with key principles that are applicable to organisations both large and small.

Treasurers attending the additional Treasurer's Afternoon workshops can hear Dr Eva Tsahuridu and Ram Subramanian of CPA Australia discuss regulatory developments and their implications for treasurers in the Not for Profit sector in general, with an emphasis on charities.

Treasurers attending the Treasurer's Afternoon workshops can also hear Glenn Poole – Executive in Residence, Australian Centre for Philanthropy and NonProfit Studies – QUT Business School (and former Auditor General of Queensland) discuss the 'Treasurer's Challenge', focusing on the role of the treasurer and the attributes that assist organisations to achieve their social outcomes while maintaining financial responsibility.

In the opening keynote on the Saturday Dr Nina Terrey will inspire delegates to revolutionise their organisations, and also provide practical strategies they can implement to embed innovation from the boardroom down.

A representative from the Australian Charities and Not-fot-Profits Commission (ACNC) will launch the 2nd version of the Governance for Good Guide, and will be on-hand during the Saturday and Sunday at the ACNC information desk to answer any questions.

The conference will conclude with a thoughtful presentation by David Miles – Chair of Innovation Australia, where he will discuss the idea of Innovation being the key to unlocking the future, a key component in times of uncertainty and change.

The Better Boards Conference is always a valuable opportunity to make connections, share ideas and gather information with other board members, Chief Executive Officers and senior managers from Not for Profit organisations.

A significant team discount is available for groups of 3 or more.
