GRANTS of up to $20,000 are now up for grabs as part of Aurizon’s Community Giving Fund.

Aurizon is offering the grants for projects based in Health and Wellbeing, Community Safety and Education for charities in regional and rural Australia.

Aurizon’s Managing Director and CEO Lance Hockridge said the Community Giving Fund was a vital community investment for the company.

“The Giving Fund provides Aurizon with the opportunity to support the communities where our employees work and live, even in these difficult economic times,” he said.

“Non-profit groups and charities have been doing it tough lately so we want to do what we can to help them out.

“For many of these community organisations the work they are able to do is dependent on the generosity of the corporate sector and we want to be one of the companies supporting grassroots programs that really make a difference.

“The Community Giving Fund has grown with the support of our own employees who we encourage to spread the word about this program in their own communities.”

Since 2011, the Fund has provided grants to more than 130 Australian charities.

The company works in conjunction with the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) Australia to provide the biannual grants program.

Aurizon Holdings Limited (previously QR National) offers rail and road-based freight transport and infrastructure solutions across Australia.

Applications close at 5pm (AEDST) on Friday, October 25. To apply, visit aurizon.com.au/community.
