Carer KaFE Seeks Expressions of Interest For 2019
6 November 2018 at 8:00 am

In order to increase learning and development opportunities for kinship and foster carers across Victoria, Carer KaFE is seeking expressions of interests from training providers for 2019.

To care for Victoria’s children and young adults in kinship and foster placements, carers themselves need training and support. To meet this need Carer KaFE was launched on 21 April 2017, and provides free learning and development opportunities to carers throughout Victoria. Training is offered online and in face-to-face classroom settings across Victoria to meet the needs of all carers, who come from all walks of life.

On top of training, Carer KaFE has also supported a number of extra learning and development activities. This year we supported carers to attend the Queensland National Conference, a masterclass at the International Childhood Trauma Conference, YMCA Kinship Care Camps, Mill Valley Ranch Camp for traumatised children, and the Daylesford Carer Retreat. Carer KaFE has also provided seven scholarships to kinship and foster carers to undergo a unit of accredited training.

The Carer KaFE training schedule provide five streams of training to meet the diverse needs of carers, offering training that covers the kinship carer experience, the foster carer experience, caring for Aboriginal children, foundational parenting for kinship and foster carers, and specialist topics for kinship and foster carers.

We are currently taking expressions of interests from training providers for the training calendar for 2019. We are looking for subject matter experts and in particular innovation in learning and development delivery. Forms and more information are contained here.

We are very proud of the strong partnerships we’ve built with providers and agencies over the short time we’ve been in operation, and would love to see your submissions this week due by Monday 9am 12 November.
