In the wake of unprecedented demand for the first round of the NDIS Success program, the Community Business Bureau (CBB) is now gearing up to offer a second round of the popular webinar series for those who missed out.

Registrations are now open for all type and sized organisations wanting to know the secrets on how to operate successfully in the fast-growing disability sector.

The six-part webinar series got a resounding tick of approval from participants searching for a roadmap that helps them have the right cost-to-serve model in place, strong governance arrangements and processes that deliver against reporting obligations.

CBB general manager, consulting and business services, Jane Arnott, said more than 800 webinar views were achieved in the program’s initial round by people wanting to expand services and stay sustainable within the NDIS environment.

“We have been overwhelmed at the amount of positive feedback to this flexible learning initiative. Even more pleasing is that we’ve received a great deal of enquiries from people who were unable to participate last time but want to secure their spot this time around,” Arnott said. 

“Round one participants told us they wanted to expand their services to people with disability, while others operating in aged care, education, employment and health services said they are now considering expansion into the disability sector after completing our NDIS Success program.

“We’ve been pleased to help organisations better understand the opportunities on offer and map out the next steps needed by tapping into the vast knowledge of our sector experts throughout the webinar series.”

Several organisations already providing mental health counselling, addiction services and employment support are now using the information from the webinars to develop new services within the disability sector as part of an expanded business model.

“We realised that the service provision of NDIS does not specifically take into account Indigenous Australian needs in terms of culturally valid opportunities. We believe we can offer this,” said one participant.

Another round one participant said: “The benefit has been the provision of additional information on the NDIS and setting up a clear stepped process to inform the design of the new service. I particularly found the webinar on strategies for success very valuable. This assisted me in getting clarity about what sets our organisation apart from competitors.”

Despite a number of operational impacts and economic uncertainty experienced during the global pandemic, program participants took advantage of the online self-paced learning, interactive webinars and peer networking opportunities.

“The common theme amongst participants was they wanted to enhance offerings in their local community and do all they can to support people with disability to live a life of their choosing. They are clearly motivated to help clients achieve their life goals and want to make a real difference – and they told us what they learned during NDIS Success can help make that happen,” Arnott said.

“For example, one program graduate is now drawing on their expanded understanding of the disability sector to deliver better and enhanced services to people living in remote and regional locations and those with Indigenous and non-English speaking backgrounds. That’s great news for those communities who have until now experienced support shortfalls.”

Providers that successfully complete the webinar series can participate in the next stage of the program, NDIS Success Guide, which provides six months of direct business consulting support from CBB’s market-leading consulting team. The direct business consulting opportunity assists organisations to take what they’ve learned and apply that knowledge in their own business so they can adapt and scale services that meet growing market demand.
