Nominations open for 2020 Australian Impact Investment Awards

The awards are a collaboration between the Impact Investment Summit Asia Pacific and the Impact Investing Hub  

Australians are being urged to show their support for exemplary individuals and organisations in the impact sector by making a nomination for the 2020 Australian Impact Investment Awards. 

The awards recognise people in the sector for their expertise, commitment and outstanding activity in the Australian impact investing ecosystem, and are designed with similar criteria and categories to the Global Steering Group’s (GSG) impact awards.

Sponsored by the Department of Social Services, the virtual awards ceremony on 16 December will feature a speech from Social Services Minister Anne Ruston.

Jessica Roth, the founder and director of the Social Impact Hub, said the awards would serve as a celebration for the sector at the end of a crisis-filled 2020.

“Given the challenges of COVID-19 this year, it is especially important to recognise achievement in the impact investment ecosystem,” Roth said.

“It is wonderful to have something to celebrate at the end of such a difficult year.”

The awards are a collaboration between the Impact Investment Summit Asia Pacific and the Impact Investing Hub (which is managed by the Social Impact Hub).

Impact Investment Summit Asia Pacific founder and CEO Alex Feher urged people to send their nominations in.

“We strongly encourage everyone in the impact ecosystem to nominate organisations and people for an award as this just adds fuel to the growth in the movement for transformational change we would all like to see,” Feher said.

The awards celebrate leaders in several categories such as impact asset owner, impact entrepreneur and impact market builder.

Judges for the awards include Rosemary Addis AM (Global Steering Group for Impact Investment), Teena Blewitt PSM (Department of Social Services) and Zarmeen Pavri (Global Impact Investing Network and SDGx).

Nominations close on 4 December.
