Faster funding for Victorian community housing

The state government has taken the razor to the approvals process for not for profit community housing providers.
The Victorian government is slashing red tape for community housing projects, a move that will make it easier for not for profit community housing providers to access government funding for developments.
It will now be faster for community housing providers to register with the Housing Registrar, a prerequisite for funding support.
According to the state government, the move will shave at least four weeks from the process of ensuring providers are meeting all necessary requirements, while also reducing the administrative burden for not for profits.
The move comes as the state government continues on its Big Housing Build to create more than 12,000 new homes, boosting Victoria’s social housing supply by 10 per cent.
The streamlining of community housing funding is one of 57 projects funded by the Victorian government’s red-tape-reducing Regulation Reform Incentive Fund.
