Creative Partnerships Named

What does a zoo, a circus and the opera have in common? They have been named as having outstanding relationships with business, the arts and donors as part of the Victorian Creative Partnerships Australia Awards.

The 2013 Awards recognise the relationships between the private sector – both business and philanthropic – and the arts and include a partnership between Zoos Victoria and the City of Melbourne as well as awards to Circus Oz and Opera Australia.

“We’ve been very impressed with the high standard of entries and the range of initiatives nominated this year,” Creative Partnerships Australia CEO Fiona Menzies said.

“The Awards continue to demonstrate that innovative and creative partnerships between the cultural and private sectors are thriving across the country; reaffirming the value these partnerships bring to the organisations and the broader community.

“Creative Partnerships Australia was established this year under Creative Australia, the Federal Government’s national cultural policy, to encourage and facilitate private sector support for the arts.

“Creative Partnerships works with the arts, business and philanthropic sectors, as well as government, to support sustainable creative industries in Australia.”

The winners were announced across eight categories including partnering, volunteering, and access and philanthropy.

Recipients of the 2013 Awards in Victoria are:

Woodside Better Business Award

• Experimenta and Nick Miller

Creative Partnerships Arts & Health Award

• ILBIJERRI Theatre and Department of Health & Hepatitis Victoria

Creative Partnerships Arts Access Award

• Opera Australia

The winners of the Awards at state level will go on to represent Victoria at the 2013 Creative Partnerships Australia National Awards being held in Canberra on November 18.
