Sponsored Article: A Commonwealth Bank initiative, Women in Focus together with the Sydney Women’s Fund are celebrating the 101st International Women’s Day with a special lunch in Sydney on 9th March.

Described as an inspiring and interactive lunch, the event will celebrate and hear from women making a difference in the most vulnerable sectors of our community, including 2011 Telstra Business Woman of the Year and Deputy Police Commissioner, Catherine Burn.

The Sydney Women’s Fund will release their report ‘A Portrait of Women and Girls in Sydney’.

Sandra Sully will facilitate discussion on the current concerns relating to women in vulnerable sectors and what the community can do to empower them to fulfil their potential both economically and socially.

Other guest speakers include, Rosalind Strong AM, the Chair of Sydney Community Foundation and a previous Chair of UN Women Australia, the Sydney Community Foundation, a public philanthropic fund where donors combine their gifts to build a growing and permanent endowment for the benefit of the community of Greater Sydney. Indigenous Health Researcher and NT Young Australian of the Year 2011, Kalinda Griffiths will join the line up.

The lunch will take place on Friday, March 9 2012 at Commonwealth Bank – Level 19, 201 Sussex St, Sydney from 12:00-2:00pm. The cost is $80 per head with all proceeds going to the Sydney Women’s Fund.

Women in Focus encourages women to share their personal and business stories to inspire others, celebrate achievement and to reach out and help others. Women in Focus will be holding similar themed International Women’s Day events throughout March in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Darwin.

The Sydney Women’s Fund works for a community where all women and girls achieve their potential and live safely without fear of discrimination or disadvantage.

Registration for the lunch can be made at Women in Focus International Women's Day – Sydney.
