Job Advertisements Down
16 July 2012 at 12:04 pm

The number of job advertisements has declined in the nation according to a study released by the ANZ bank.

The data also showed that the preferred method for employers to advertise positions was online as opposed to in print.

ANZ job advertisements data reflect the number of jobs advertised in the major daily newspapers and internet sites for every capital city each month.

Nationally, the estimated number of newspaper job advertisements decreased by 1.7 per cent in June 2012, to be 17.6 per cent lower than the estimated number in the same period one year earlier.

The ANZ estimated that the number of national internet job advertisements per week for June 2012 was 156 893 in trend terms, down 6.0 per cent from June 2011. This implies that the number of internet advertisements in June 2012 was around 22 times greater than the number of print advertisements.

Since July 2009, the number of national internet job advertisements has increased by 37.1 per cent, while the number of newspaper job advertisements has decreased by 15.5 per cent over the same period.
