Because first impressions do matter when you’re hunting for a new job

It might seem like an insignificant part of your job hunt, but making sure you have an up-to-date, professional headshot could make the difference between landing your dream role or not.

This means that if your current headshot is a holiday selfie or a cropped pic at your last family gathering it might be time to shake things up.

Why, you ask? Read on to find out.

Your headshot is an extension of your personal brand

Having a professional looking headshot (whether it’s used as your LinkedIn profile picture, on your website or included in your CV) shows prospective employers, clients and collaborators that you take your job seriously, and can be trusted to do a job well.

A picture says 1000 words

It’s important to remember that just because your updated pic should look professional, doesn’t mean that it needs to be bland and stale. If you love wearing colourful clothing or bold jewellery, show it off! Your headshot is a great way to show employers your personal style and can let your personality shine through.

A good photo will help you stand out from the crowd

If your headshot is hi-res with good lighting and good framing, employers are more likely to take a closer look and remember who you are, than if you have a pixelated photo taken on your old iPhone. Of course, there are many other aspects of your CV that will make you stand out, but everything helps, right?
